This photo from c.1890 was taken across the estuary from the foot of Broadway.
It shows an unidentified sailboat with 3 men on board. In the background are the ferryboat Amador in a slip at the foot of Broadway, and the ferryboat Alameda in front of the Renton Coal Company wharf. Further in the background, the building with a flag on top is the Alameda County Courthouse built in 1875. Immediately behind the right-hand bridge of the Alameda appears to be the distinctive steep roof of the Alameda County Hall of Records which was across the street from the courthouse.
