Latham Square is a tiny public square (more of a triangle) in downtown Oakland.
It has a fountain, a building, and had a battle over what to do with it.
In July, 2016, the revamped square was re-opened. The fountain has water flowing in it for the first time in 75 years! There are also new signs telling some of the history of the area and about the Latham family.
The traffic flow around the square is basically back to what it was, with one minor (but significant) difference: Telegraph Avenue makes a slight 'hook' before Broadway, so people are less likely to blow through the intersection like they used to.
