The Hotel Pine (or Pine Hotel) was a small hotel at 1805 - 7th St. at Pine in West Oakland.
The exact years it was around are unknown. It first appears in a classified in 1919 2 as Pine Hotel, and last appears in 1931 in a classified selling the business. 3 There was a later Pine Hotel at 721 Broadway, which appears as early as 1939.
In 1907, Michael Shea (or O'Shea) was granted a liquor license for 1805 - 7th; Shea and Murphy Saloon appears in some directory listings. Note the "Pool Americano" sign below the window at the corner in the above photo.
The hotel appeared by name only rarely in the news, but a shooting in 1922 made the front page. 4
