The Aladdin Apartments were in a building at 3058 Fruitvale Avenue near School Street, constructed in 1928.
The building was constructed by builder J.B. Peppin for owner Carl T. Petersen, who was also the cement contractor for the project. The apartments featured Rip Van Winkle wall beds and Frigidaire electric refrigerators. 1
There was apparently an earlier building known as Aladdin Apartments c.1909 that was at 1st Ave. and E12th Street. 2
The location is now a gas station and a new apartment building at 3050. It's unclear when the Aladdin building was demolished and the new building constructed. The 1967 streets directory and the 1969 streets directory both still list 3058 as apartments. They also list 3050 as apartments with between 12 and 15 units, but the 1928 and 1950 Sanborns only show a building with 2 units. Zillow says the present-day 3050 Fruitvale was built in 1969.
