NAME, Years Elected to City Council
William A Walter (1830-1892) served on City Council in 1876, 1877, and 1878 representing the 3rd Ward. He was president of council the final two years.
William Walter was born in New York and came to California in 1852.2 Lived at 606 14th St. Partner in Shakespear & Walter, wholesale dealers of wood and coal, a business at 413-421 Eleventh Street.1 He may also have had dealings with the Wells Fargo Express Company. Walter was a Mason.
Walter is buried at Mountain View Cemetery.4
