West Oakland Specific Plan - Oakland

The West Oakland Specific Plan is a plan developed by the City of Oakland's Oakland Redevelopment Agency along with the firm JRDV International and community members. The plan involves future development in Oakland's West Oakland neighborhood. Work on the plan was begun in July, 2011.

At a contentious Planning Commission meeting on June 11, 2014 (that included protests), the plan was accepted by a vote of 4 to 2. It then went to City Council for approval. On July 29th, Council postponed a final vote on the plan [source], although the City's site says that the plan becomes effective Aug. 29th.

The first workshop was held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at the West Oakland Senior Center at 1724 Adeline Street.
The second workshop was held on Thursday, November 3, 2011, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., at the West Oakland Senior Center at 1724 Adeline Street.
The third workshop was held on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., at the West Oakland Senior Center at 1724 Adeline Street.
The fourth workshop was held on May 5, 2012, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Cypress Mandela Training Center, 2229 Poplar Street.
The fifth workshop was held on June 12, 2012, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., at St. Vincent DePaul Community Center, 2272 San Pablo Avenue.
