The Compound Gallery is an artist-run gallery and studio space. It is perhaps most famous for its "Art in a Box" program, a subscription service shipping local artwork around the world. It was founded by Matt and Lena Reynoso.
It was in the Golden Gate neighborhood in a building constructed for the Piedmont French Cleaners and Dye Works, until they moved to 61st and Hollis in Emeryville.
The studio includes private studios, plus a common area, as well as wood shop, a metal shop, and printing equipment.
In 2015, The Compound Gallery was the recipient of of the East Bay Express award for the Best Art Studio Complex .
