Swett School (also known as Intermediate School No. 1) was located at 12th Avenue and East 19th Street. 1 This historic Swett School was different from the John Swett Elementary School which was constructed in 1926.

In 1887 Mrs. E. D. Marion was the Principal of the Swett School, with only three teachers; Miss Jennie A. Wade, Miss Carrie M. Ellis, Miss Alice B. Ward, and no janitor.

In 1916, D. Martin was the principal. 1
