The Sterling Furniture Company (later Sterling, Bunster and Saxe) was a small local chain of furniture stores. The business was founded in 1875 in San Francisco by H.A. Moore. 1 The Oakland store opened in 1946 at 1800 Telegraph and 1749 Broadway. 2
The Oakland store closed in 1959 and the building was sold. The building was constructed in 1923 for Smith Brothers Stationery. 3
