Sheng Thao (born c.1986) was on the city council member representing District 4, and is the current mayor. Thao is the first Hmong-American woman to elected to the office of council member or mayor in California, and the first Hmong-American mayor of a major U.S. city.
She was elected to council in November 2018, serving from January 2019 until January 2023 when she became mayor.
