The Oakland Yacht Club (OYC) was founded in 1913. They first met in Peterson's boat house "at the foot of 12th Street." They were forced to move, and built a $250 clubhouse at the foot of 19th Avenue, where they were until 1977 when they moved to Alameda. 1

The OYC website says Jack London kept his 30' yawl Roamer there until his death in 1916 1, but other sources 2 say he was a member of the Vallejo Yacht Club and kept the Roamer (formerly the Isis) nearby on the Napa River. Given the proximity to Glen Ellen, that seems more likely.
