The Oakland Flouring Mills were built in 1861 by Blanchard & Plummer on Broadway and Telegraph Avenue, at San Pablo Avenue, Oakland, California. A few years later they sold the company to B. F. Pendleton and J. M. Learned, who continued to operate under the name Pendleton & Company. The plant was producing 312 barrels of flour per day by 1869.
There was a BF Pendleton on City Council in 1867 and 1868. I couldn't find any info about him except that he was a Republican, but I'm guessing/wondering if this is the same dude? (note- not the same as BH Pendleton who came later)-gk
