The Oakland Private Industry Council (OPIC) will host a Career Fair at Eastmont Town Center on Friday, February 28 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Co-sponsored by Alameda County Social Services and East Bay Works, more than 50 employers will talk with job applicants, accept resumes and conduct spot interviews for job vacancies. Headlined by such companies as FoodsCo, AC Transit, and Bank of America, the Career Fair will also conduct on-site enrollment into its Workforce program, and provide information about employment-related training and other job readiness services.
The Oakland PIC is the city’s largest employment training program. As an advocate for its clients, PIC offers no-cost digital literacy classes, instructing applicants to create email accounts, and upload resumes to companies seeking employees.
PIC conducts seminars for job seeking and interviewing skills, and counsels applicants on how to “be the candidate” selected by employers. Job developers and Employment Specialists collect scores of job leads and refer clients daily for employment in the greater Oakland area.
Local companies hiring workers will find the New Hires Career Fair is an optimal place to gather a range of applications and resumes, and screen for the most highly skilled, ready to work job seeker.
There will be information about Voter Registration as well as CoveredCalifornia, the nation’s new health care option for everyone.
Eastmont Town Center is located at 7200 Bancroft Avenue, in Oakland. The Career Fair is on the second floor of the mall, and is accessible by public transportation. Parking is free.
