Garber was one half of Barstow & Garber (the other being Anson Barstow) which sold wood and coal, hay and grain, at the corner Thirteenth and Franklin.1 Alternately, he was one third of Sarpy, Barstow & Co (Garber being the "& Co").2
Upon his death, his estate was valued at $6140.3
