The Lux Theatre (also called the Lux Theater) was a movie theater at 1220 Broadway, described in ads as Broadway at 13th. It opened on July 17, 1948, 1 and closed in 1986. The theater was built by Louis Kalisky, who previously built the Grand Lake, Dimond, and Senator theaters, along with a partner named D. B. Levin. 2A.A. Cantin did the redesign work to convert the building into a theater. 5
The theater was in the Charles Jurgens Company Building, with the entrance located at what later became the storefront occupied by the now-closed Goodwill store.
The theater underwent a significant remodeling in 1954. 3
The 1967 directory also lists the Lux Pizza Bar Restaurant at 1220.
