Jen Angel was an Oakland based baker and cooperative movement organizer. She founded the bakery Angel Cakes at 745 5th St, Oakland, CA 94607.
Jen Angel died in a tragic incident involving a robbery at Angel Cakes. The Estate of Jen Angel, a group of close friends of Angel, advocated for abolitionist approaches to accountability for the death, encouraging restorative justice and healing practices for the other party. The Alameda County District Attorney's Office agreed to a plea deal with the other party, sentencing him to seven years in prison for manslaughter and robbery.
