Not much is known yet about the Japanese Seventh-Day Adventist Church. It was at 3211 Grove St. (now 3209 Martin Luther King, Jr. Way) at the corner of Brookhurst beginning c.1950. 1
According to the Oakland History Center, John K. Umeda was listed as the pastor from 1963 to 1965, and he appears as late as the 1969 directory. 2
The building is now home to Rising Star Baptist Church.
