The Heartwood House (aka 'Brubeck West'), is a famous cantilevered house designed by architect Beverley David Thorne in 1949 for jazz pianist Dave Brubeck and his wife Iola. The house is located at 6630 Heartwood Drive, in the Montclair District of the Oakland Hills. From its completion in 1954 until 1960, the Heartwood House was home to the growing Brubeck family.
