Foothill Square is a community shopping center in East Oakland that opened in the early 1960s in what used to be the Fageol Motors Company (and later Peterbilt) factory. Renovation of the center started in the late 1990s with stores reopening in 2014. It is currently managed by Jay-Phares Corporation.
In January 2014, Allen Temple and Block by Block Organizing Network organized a Job Fair for the new stores and over 700 residents came to apply for about 350 jobs.
Location
The shopping center is bounded by 108th Avenue, MacArthur Blvd & Foothill Blvd. It is in Oakland's Elmhurst District near the border with San Leandro in the Foothill Square neighborhood .
Stores
In March 2014, the major stores started to reopen. The anchor store is a Foods Co. grocery store. Other stores include Ross Dress for Less, Anna Linens, Rainbow Apparel, Wells Fargo Bank and Soon's Beauty Supply.
