In 2012, Oakland received a $6 million dollar grant from Proposition 84 Statewide Parks Grant to fund improvements to Durant Mini Park and the Golden Gate Recreation Center. According to a press release, one million dollars was designated for Durant Mini Park for lighting, a new amphitheater and picnic areas, a community garden, a new children’s play area and tot lot, and a new walking circuit and bicycle accommodations.2
The Durant Mini Park has a playground, swings, a picnic table and 2 raised beds that make up a tiny community Garden.
