BIO

According to her website, Brooks is originally from New Orleans and moved to Oakland in 1989 via Seattle. Brooks has a JD from University of Seattle University and a BA in Political Science from University of Washington. Previous positions include Chief of Staff to Alameda County Supervisor Keith Carson;Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice Immigration & Naturalization Service; Assistant District Council with the Department of Housing & Urban Development; Staff Attorney with the Washington State Legislature; and Public Defender with Northwest Defenders.

Desley Brooks is a vegetarian.

see Grand Jury Report. Because of this report, Council President Pat Kernighan has called for a special City Council meeting for July 25th to discuss possible censure of Brooks. She believes this will restore the public trust in government.1
