The Depot Inn (later the Southern Pacific Hotel) was a hotel at 16th and Wood across from the 16th Street Station beginning in 1913. Today the building is apartments.
In 1913, W.R. Brackett and George J. Croll rented the lot for 10 years in order to build the hotel. The architect was Herbert B. Maggo, and the plans included a restaurant, a barber shop, and a cafe. 1
Charles Stuckert was the proprietor in 1917. In 1919 he purchased the restaurant from Natalia M. Corey, then two weeks later sold it to Tony Lewis Vasconcellos.
In January 1922, an arson fire damaged the hotel. Joseph Wilson purchased the hotel later in 1922.
A 1993 article says it was known as the Depot Inn until about 1930. 2 It is listed in the 1935 directory as the SP Hotel (not to be confused with the SP Hotel - furnished rooms, at 1909 San Pablo Ave.)
The 1951 Sanborn shows address of 1748 and 1746 - 16th Street, and 1600, 1610, 1612, and 1616 Wood Street.
