Chimes Creek is a tributary to Lion Creek. It originates high on the slopes above the north end of the former Leona Quarry, crosses beneath I-580 in a culvert and emerges between Hillmont Drive and Delmont Avenue, then runs northwest (along the trace of the Hayward fault) to Seminary Avenue, where it then turns west and merges with Lion Creek on the Mills College campus. It is said to get its name from being within the sound of the Mills College chapel bells.
