Chester Herbert Miller (February 12, 1890 – January 1, 1953) was one of the partners of the Miller and Warnecke architecture firm.
Chester Miller was born in Oakland, the only child of Isaac Herbert Miller and Emma Lewis (Miller). The 1900 census lists them at 505 East 11th Street (915 East 11th after 1912 renumbering) and lists Isaac as a foreman in a store. The 1910 census lists them in Redwood Township in Santa Clara County, and lists Chester as an architect for the Southern Pacific. A note in the Pacific Coast Architecture Database says he didn't get any higher education because he needed to work to help support his parents. 1 His 1914 voter registration also lists him as an architect.
Chester Miller married Esther Elva Bowman (Miller) on October 13, 1917, in Berkeley. They adopted a daughter, Jane Frances Miller (Day). Esther died February 27, 1935. Jane disappeared for a few weeks in 1936, but was found in Oregon.
Chester then remarried to Dorothy Kirkwood (Miller) on June 1, 1937, and they settled at 6517 Liggett Drive.
Miller died January 1, 1953, and is buried in Mountain View Cemetery with his mother.
