NAME, Years Elected to City Council
Chauncey Taylor (1822-1896) was on the City Council in 1863, 1864 and 1865.
Chauncey Taylor came to California in 1849 and arrived in Oakland in 1861 where he established a lumber business. He lived at 704 8th Street and died of apoplexy.1 Taylor died a wealthy man and his will was disputed in courts for years and discussed widely in newspapers.
