Carl B. Munck Elementary School is located at 11900 Campus Drive and opened in January 1961. The campus has been home to the Hintil Ku'u Ca school since 1979.
The land was purchased in the late 1950s along with land to create nearby Pinto Park. The building was designed by architect E. Geoffrey Bangs, and constructed in 1960. 1 During the planning stages for the school, it was identified as the Redwood Road School or the Pinto Ranch School, but before the school opened, the OUSD board decided to name the school after long-time school board member and then school board president Carl Munck. It was officially dedicated in his honor in April 1961. 2

The school's original address was 5000 Redwood Road. It was given the new address with the opening of Campus Drive leading to the new Merritt College in 1971.
