Burkhalter Park (sometimes spelled Burckhalter) is located on Edwards Avenue just off I-580 in Oakland, CA. Site of Burckhalter Tennis Courts.
On June 20, 2014, with a grant from Morgan Stanley, volunteers and Oakland Parks and Recreation employees built a new playground at Burkhalter. Besides a play structure, they're building picnic tables and a chalkboard for an 'outdoor classroom', and putting in new plants in the landscaped areas.
Questions: Why is the spelling different than the tennis courts and nearby school? When were they named? The school was named for Chabot Observatory astronomer Charles Burckhalter.
