Owner and award-winning chef Tanya Holland cooked up some of the BEST waffles and fried chicken at Brown Sugar Kitchen in West Oakland!
Brown Sugar was the recipient of the East Bay Express Best Southern/Soul Food Readers' Poll Award in 2014.
Brown Sugar Kitchen (BSK) started in 2008 on Mandela Parkway. BSK moved to 2295 Broadway in 2019, and opened a second location in the SF Ferry Building. The SF location closed in 2020, and the Broadway location closed at the end of 2021. 1
