Teen Eco Action Week Ira Jinkins Recreation Center, 9175 Edes Avenue. Registration runs through Wednesday, June 5 The Rec Center will host the Teen Eco Action Week -- a program that allows teens to discover how to benefit from taking action to protect the environment. In addition to participating in restoration projects and fun-filled outdoor recreational activities, youth will earn community service credit and receive a career exploration stipend upon program completion. Fine Arts Summer School The Office of Parks and Recreation (OPR), in partnership with the Oakland Unified School District, will host the Oakland Fine Arts Summer School (OFASS). OFASS is an artistic collaboration of afternoon art studio sessions for dance, visual art and film and photography and offers arts programming for students who were enrolled and attending Kindergarten through 5th grade as of April 2013. Ira Jinkins Summer Full & Half Day Camp A traditional day camp for boys and girls, ages 5 to 12: exciting activities led by caring adults in a structured and safe environment. No advance registration is required for youth to participate in a wide variety of activities including crafts, sports, nature walks, sewing, swimming, golf, dance, movement classes, board games, field trips and indoor and outdoor group activities. All campers also receive a free lunch. The Full Day Camp runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Half Day Camp runs from noon to 5:00 p.m. Before/Aftercare is available at additional cost. Our summer camp is a week-long program for girls ages 8-18. Campers attend instrument lessons, form a band, collaboratively write an original song, participate in daily music and empowerment-related workshops, and perform with their band at a live showcase at the end of the week. Camp will be held at Oakland School for the Arts in downtown Oakland. Full tuition for BAGRC is $400. We offer full and partial financial aid upon request, and no one is turned away for lack of funds. To apply, please fill out the financial aid application in addition to the camper application.
